Medical Laboratory Supervisor

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Technologist Supervisor to join our team at Clinical Laboratories of Hawaii, LLP. As a Medical Technologist Supervisor, you will be responsible for directing and controlling personnel, equipment, resources, and testing procedures within the laboratory and/or a specific section.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine laboratory test procedures and adhere to quality assurance and quality control procedures.
- Correlate clinical information and report discrepancies to senior staff or supervisors.
- Collect and direct all essential job duties of a medical technologist and senior staff, assuming direct supervisory duties over personnel and resources.
- Maintain and operate lab equipment, detecting malfunctions and troubleshooting issues with technologist assistance.
- Ensure appropriate lab supplies are always on hand and participate in developmental work on new tests.
- Train or instruct laboratory personnel in the performance of lab tests and procedures.
- Participate in established TQM activities, QC testing of lab reagents, and equipment maintenance.
- Follow protocol for running and documenting control values.
- Collect, evaluate, and report quality management data to monitor and improve laboratory performance.
- Attend and participate in continuing education programs to monitor proficiency and expand current knowledge.
- Share knowledge and provide clinical orientation to other members of the staff.
- Oversee Job Competency/Skills Check program and maintain open communication with supervisors, pathologists, and fellow employees.
- Communicate pertinent information to other members of the healthcare team in a clinically relevant time frame.
- Maintain strict confidentiality in all situations and with all documentation.
- Monitor personnel performance and document performance through periodic appraisals.
- Establish procedures and maintain a laboratory department or unit under the direction of the lab manager.
- Perform the most challenging and advanced tests, examinations, or analysis in one or more specialized fields.
- Monitor training and evaluation of MLT/MT new employees/students.
- Establish and write laboratory procedures using computer software for method validation.
- Bachelor's Degree in medical technology or related science from an accredited program.
- Current certification or registration as a Medical Technologist.
- Valid and current State of Hawaii license as a Medical Technologist.
- Minimum 4 years of clinical laboratory experience in a hospital/commercial lab setting.
- Strong reading, writing, and analytical skills.
- Strong computer skills and knowledge of lab information systems.
- Ability to operate general laboratory equipment.
- 4+ years of laboratory experience in a hospital/commercial lab setting.
