Covenant Medical Group, part of Covenant Health, is a comprehensive medical practice organization featuring over 300 esteemed physicians and providers across 20 locations in East Tennessee.
Our specialties encompass a wide range of medical fields, including cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, endocrinology, gastroenterology, general surgery, infectious disease, neurology, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedic surgery, primary care, pulmonology, reproductive medicine, rheumatology, sleep medicine, and urology.
Position Summary:
In this role, you will provide essential administrative support for patient service functions, particularly in relation to the check-out processes of the medical practice. Your responsibilities will include collecting and processing encounter form data, managing outstanding balances, and ensuring accurate financial transactions at the end of each day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to established departmental policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Handle incoming calls and direct them appropriately.
- Update and maintain patient information records.
- Demonstrate understanding of insurance protocols and provider participation.
- Ensure accurate documentation of procedures and diagnoses for billing purposes.
- Schedule follow-up appointments and manage end-of-day balancing tasks.
- Compile necessary data for billing personnel.
- Embrace the A-I-D-E-T communication fundamentals.
- Participate in required meetings and committees as needed.
- Collaborate effectively with patients, physicians, and other team members to enhance overall patient care.
Additional Duties:
Perform other related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education:
While no specific educational background is mandated, candidates with a combination of formal education and relevant work experience demonstrating the necessary skills and knowledge will be considered. Preference may be given to those with a high school diploma or GED.
Minimum Experience:
A minimum of one (1) year of experience in a medical office environment is required, with a solid understanding of clinic appointment scheduling, collections, and familiarity with ICD-9/10 and CPT-4 coding. Alternatively, candidates with three (3) years of customer-facing service experience will also be considered.
Licensure Requirement:
No specific licensure is required.
