Shift Operations Manager

At Archer Daniels Midland Company, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Shift Supervisor to join our team. As a Shift Supervisor, you will be responsible for directing operations performed by hourly production colleagues to ensure that work is performed safely and efficiently, while meeting expected environmental, quality, and housekeeping standards established by the Company.
Key Responsibilities:- Direct the operation of the plant facility on a shift rotation across multiple departments and within safety, environmental, and quality standards established by the Company.
- Work closely with the Shift Superintendent in the effective leadership of a team of hourly colleagues across the plant site.
- Demonstrate a desire and willingness to learn the Shift Superintendent role in order to provide coverage on an as-needed basis.
- Collaborate with various department leaders to support the achievement of goals and KPIs across multiple departments.
- Able to effectively function, learn, and grow in a dynamic operating environment where you will work across a variety of areas depending on differing needs.
- Provide directions, priorities, and resources to hourly colleague teams while delivering results, status, and needs to plant and department leaders.
- Prioritize safety above all other competing interests. Lead with a safety-first mindset and believe that all injuries are preventable. Uphold company and occupational safety and health regulations.
- Adhere to company and regulatory standards for environmental compliance and food safety compliance.
- Support the Shift Superintendent in the completion of all required safety, quality, and environmental rounds.
- Will to serve as an active member of the confined space entry rescue and emergency response teams.
- Provide support to the Shift Superintendent as an incident commander during emergency response and other critical situations.
- Recognize hazards and take action to mitigate them in order to prevent safety, quality, or environmental incidents.
- Listen and respond to employee suggestions and concerns regarding safety, quality, environment, housekeeping, and plant operations.
- Address employee concerns and maintain good communications and morale on the assigned shift rotation.
- Keep plant and department leaders informed of matters affecting the morale and safety of hourly colleagues.
- Lead by example and demonstrate the ADM Core Values in all matters, especially as it pertains to safety and personal conduct.
- Evaluate and provide feedback on hourly colleague performance as requested by department leaders. Have a desire to mentor both new and experienced hourly team members as the need and opportunity arises.
- Provide positive feedback when hourly team members are observed producing strong results and safe performance.
- Complete necessary reports and documents during the normal course of a shift, including but not limited to safety-quality-environmental events/reports, production reports, permits, and regular safety engagements.
- Experience as a qualified operator or loader is preferred.
- Experience as a cross-qualified operator or shift champion is a plus.
- Previous supervisory experience preferred for any external candidates.
- Consistent performance reviews of meets expectations or higher.
- 3-5 years processing or manufacturing experience preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude is a plus.
- Active participant in safety engagement activities.
- Desire to advance into a leadership role with ADM.
- Strong computer skills and proficient in a variety of Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with SpheraCloud, Maximo (CMMS), PolicyTech or similar applications.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Demonstrates teamwork and customer-driven.
- Accuracy and thoroughness in recordkeeping.
