Key Responsibilities

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Hospice is tasked with delivering high-quality patient care and executing skilled nursing procedures in the comfort of patients' homes.
  • Provides skilled nursing care under the guidance of a registered nurse on a daily basis.
  • Administers medications and treatments as prescribed, adhering to state regulations.
  • Assists physicians and registered nurses in executing specialized medical procedures as necessary.
  • Supports patients with daily living activities and promotes self-care practices.
  • Communicates significant changes in patients' conditions to physicians and relevant personnel as needed.
  • Performs advanced wound care when trained and documented for specific procedures.
  • Follows physician orders within the scope of LPN practice and hospice standards, without modifying the care plan.

Qualifications

Educational Background:
Associate Degree or equivalent certification

Licensure and Certification Requirements: Yes

Licensure Details

  • Must hold an unrestricted license in the state of practice.
  • Current CPR certification is mandatory.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and vehicle insurance, along with access to reliable transportation.

State-Specific Requirements

  • LA: A minimum of two years of full-time experience as an LPN is required.
