Job Summary:

Kaiser Permanente is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Certified Medical Assistant to join our Primary Care team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to a positive care experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Clinical Tasks:
    • Prepare patients for office visits by ensuring all necessary tests and clinical information are ready for review.
    • Collect and document patient data, including vital signs, medical history, and current medications.
    • Utilize standardized tools to identify health maintenance gaps and alert clinicians to areas of concern.
    • Recognize signs and symptoms of common medical illnesses and report to clinicians as needed.
    • Prepare patients for exams and procedures, ensuring the exam room is equipped with necessary supplies and equipment.
  • Clinical Procedures:
    • Perform diagnostic tests, therapies, and procedures within the scope of authorized duties, maintaining proficiency and adhering to department standards.
    • Administer medications via various routes, including oral, topical, and injectable.
    • Provide wound care, including dressing changes and staple/suture removal.
    • Assist with minor surgical procedures, such as biopsies and excisions.
    • Collect and label lab specimens, including nose, throat, and wound samples.
  • Practice Management Activities:
    • Maintain and adjust clinicians' patient schedules for efficient patient flow.
    • Respond to incoming messages and requests, collecting and communicating pertinent data to clinicians.
    • Act as clinicians' agent, communicating back to patients and other departments as needed.
    • Facilitate follow-up duties, including processing prescriptions, scheduling procedures, and updating patient data.
  • Teamwork, Leadership, and Professional Development:
    • Perform daily activities to start workflow in the work area, demonstrating flexibility and prioritizing tasks as needed.
    • Assist with onboarding new hires and validating peers' clinical skills.
    • Report errors, near misses, or hazards in a timely manner, seeking assistance when necessary.
    • Complete annual competency assessments and trainings, maintaining clinical knowledge and skills.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program approved by the State.
  • Medical Assistant Certificate (Washington).
  • Basic Life Support certification within one month of hire.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated communication (written and oral) skills.
  • Demonstrated literacy in using computers and keyboarding.
  • Skills in problem-solving, setting priorities, and using good judgment for decisions.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently under pressure.
