POSITION SUMMARY:

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalency certificate is required.

EXPERIENCE:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

Emergency Response:
  • Act as a first responder to all emergency codes, following established procedures upon arrival. Adhere to PMT and de-escalation training when managing situations involving patients or visitors.
  • Ensure emergency teams have clear access to necessary areas and collaborate with local emergency services as needed.
  • Serve as a liaison between the healthcare facility and law enforcement agencies.
  • Detain individuals under citizen's arrest until law enforcement arrives.
Monitoring and Patrol:
  • Protect against vandalism, theft, fire, and injury to employees, patients, and visitors.
  • Conduct patrols of internal and external areas, including parking lots, to ensure safety at entrances and exits. Document patrol times using a data recording system.
  • Maintain a visible security presence throughout the facility, utilizing surveillance systems and physical patrols to monitor access points and restrict unauthorized entry.
  • Identify and address suspicious activities promptly.
  • Assist patients and visitors after hours, providing guidance and personal escorts when necessary.
  • Conduct regular tests of alarm systems, including fire drills, and monitor employee responses. Document findings and report to the Safety Committee with recommendations.
  • Investigate alarm activations and assess their causes.
  • Inspect the facility for fire and environmental hazards, ensuring security systems are operational.
Theft Prevention:
  • Manage lost and found items, documenting and locating owners when possible.
  • Secure patient valuables in a designated safe until claimed.
  • Investigate theft or vandalism reports, documenting incidents and forwarding them to the appropriate personnel. In urgent cases, contact local law enforcement.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Respond to morgue duty calls, applying proper lifting techniques for transporting deceased individuals.
  • Enforce parking regulations and assist with traffic control, including valet services. Issue warnings for unauthorized parking.
  • Operate security equipment, including badge-making devices and surveillance systems.
  • Document daily activities, investigations, and any irregularities.
  • Assist facility management with maintenance needs when necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
