Direct Support Professional

About the Role:
As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) at Home Life, Inc., you will play a vital role in supporting adults with intellectual disabilities to live fulfilling lives. This position is specifically for female staff members working on the Friday-Sunday 9:00pm-9:00am shift.
Job Summary:
You will assist individuals with daily living activities, promote independence, and build relationships within the community. Your support will enable them to enjoy active, productive, and empowered lives.
Responsibilities:
- Reporting and Communication: Report directly to the Assistant Program or Program Manager; adhere to all policies, rules, and procedures of Home Life, Inc., and Oregon Administrative Rules (OAR). Ensure that working hours are accurately documented.
- Teamwork and Collaboration: Work as a team with other support staff to provide quality services to our supported individuals.
- Safety and Sanitation: Ensure the Safety & Sanitation Checklist is completed as assigned, and maintain confidentiality and safeguard individual information.
- Health and Wellness: Administer medications as prescribed, maintain accurate medication records, and respond appropriately to emergency situations.
- Financial Management: Safeguard supported individual money, ensure funds match ledgers, and keep itemized receipts for expenses incurred by supported individuals or staff.
Requirements:
- Eligibility for Employment: Ability to pass an initial criminal history check and subsequent checks every 2 years, be a U.S. citizen or legally able to work in the country, hold a valid driver's license, insurance, and good driving record.
- Education and Experience: High school graduate or equivalent required; preferred qualifications include an associate's degree in human development, psychology, or related field and experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities.
- Skills and Qualities: Effective verbal and written communication, technical skills, organizational and time management abilities, problem-solving skills, coping skills, relational skills, teamwork, and professionalism.
Working Conditions:
- The physical effort typically requires lifting up to 110 lbs., transferring with supported individual assistance up to 250 lbs., pulling, reaching, repositioning, carrying, pushing, keying/typing, applying physical holds, and other duties as needed.
Estimated Salary: $25-$30 per hour, depending on location and experience.
