About the RoleThe Director of Nursing will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality nursing services to patients in a correctional setting. This includes supervising and coordinating the activities of nursing personnel, verifying patient needs are met, and evaluating nursing care and patient care unit performance.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and coordinate nursing personnel to ensure delivery of high-quality patient care
- Verify patient needs are met and evaluate nursing care and patient care unit performance
- Participate in planning and organizing training for staff members
- Collaborate with site leadership and clients to meet contractual requirements and achieve operational and clinical performance targets
- Conduct random and scheduled audits to assess site compliance with contractual requirements and accreditation standards
- Develop and implement action plans to address areas for improvement
- Perform at-hire and annual clinical competency assessments and checks to promote safe and effective nursing care
- Coordinate and monitor orientation and onboarding activities for new hires and staff
- Interpret regulations and standards and communicate site and unit performance objectives to staff
- Graduate of an accredited nursing school required; Bachelor or Master's degree in nursing preferred
- Licensed to practice nursing in the state, board-certified or board-eligible in medicine, and has training and experience providing services to an adult population
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in a healthcare setting, with correctional healthcare experience preferred
- Previous clinical operations management experience preferred; previous direct management experience within a correctional health setting desired
