Job Title: Associate General Counsel - Real Estate

Brookfield Properties is seeking an experienced Associate General Counsel - Real Estate to join our Legal Real Estate Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for structuring, drafting, negotiating, reviewing, managing, and closing complex real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, and financings.

Responsibilities:
  • Structure, draft, negotiate, review, manage, and close sophisticated transactions for individual and multi-property/portfolio acquisitions and dispositions.
  • Coordinate all aspects of the transaction and closing process, including drafting and negotiation of brokerage agreements, confidentiality agreements, letters of intent, access agreements, purchase and sale agreements, and conducting due diligence.
  • Conduct research of rights, obligations, and restrictions contained in existing leases, reciprocal easement agreements, and other complex property agreements.
  • Provide technical and practical analysis and recommendations to internal business partners concerning legal issues.
Requirements:
  • J.D. from a leading law school, with proven academic success.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant transactional and commercial real estate experience with a law firm and/or corporation (retail real estate experience a plus).
  • Proven ability to independently structure, draft, negotiate, manage, and close sophisticated real estate acquisition/disposition, development, and financing transactions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong negotiation ability.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with an ability to interface with colleagues at all levels.
  • Outstanding client management skills, with an ability to inspire confidence and trust with a variety of clients.
