At American Track, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced CDL A Driver Heavy Equipment Hauler to join our team. As a key member of our transportation department, you will be responsible for safely transporting and loading/unloading heavy equipment and materials to various job sites throughout the Northeast Region.
Key Responsibilities- Transportation and Logistics: Safely drive a Class-A truck hauling equipment on a Step-deck/Low-boy/Landoll trailer in a variety of conditions, including urban, suburban and rural environments.
- Equipment Operation: Occasionally drive manual dump trucks and prentice trucks to and from jobsites, and operate various pieces of heavy equipment.
- Load Management: Load, deliver, and recover a variety of equipment (Backhoes, Excavator, Skid steers, Loaders, On-track Equipment, etc.) and materials (Pallets, Crates, RR Ties, Rail, etc.) to and from the customer worksite.
- Regulatory Compliance: Follow truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures.
- Safety and Maintenance: Inspect tractors and trailers for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance, and report defects, accidents or violations.
- Education and Experience: High school diploma or general education degree preferred, and valid Class A CDL license and clean driving record required.
- Skills and Abilities: Ability to operate manual transmissions (13 speed), experience hauling oversized loads while following permitted routes - preferred, and ability to drive long hours and travel regularly.
- Physical Demands: Work outdoors in all weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, etc.); uneven surfaces; safety sensitive work environment.
