Traffic Maintenance Specialist

This is a challenging role that requires a strong work ethic and ability to work independently. The Traffic Maintenance Worker II will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the maintenance of City streets, including operating light to medium-sized construction equipment, performing repairs and maintenance on traffic control devices, and assisting with building and grounds maintenance.
Key Responsibilities- Operate a range of construction equipment, including push mowers, riding mowers, weed trimmers, tractors, backhoes, loaders, dump trucks, rollers, and other light to medium-sized equipment.
- Perform repairs and maintenance on traffic control devices, including road markings, street signage, and traffic signals.
- Assist with building and grounds maintenance, including cleaning restrooms and office/break room areas, emptying trash cans, and picking up litter.
- Perform minor repairs to buildings, including carpentry and painting.
- Perform other work as necessary and or as assigned.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- One year of experience as a trades helper or maintenance laborer in any of the construction and maintenance trades.
- Good knowledge of manual labor work practices, methods, tools, and materials of varied semiskilled general maintenance work.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to read and write.
- Ability to use various types of mechanical tools and equipment.
- Ability to operate various types of automotive and power equipment.
This role will require you to work primarily outdoors, with occasional travel to other City locations. You will be exposed to wet, hot, cold, and/or humid conditions. You will be required to work weekends and holidays as needed.
This is a safety-sensitive position, and you will be subject to drug and alcohol testing, including random testing. Marijuana is one of the substances included in the drug panel screening. Possession of a medical marijuana license will not excuse you from the testing process, or the consequences of testing positive for marijuana.
