Position Overview:
Fairview Health Services is seeking a Patient Care Support Specialist to join our dynamic team in the Perianesthesia Unit. This role is essential in providing support to nursing staff in a high-volume department.
Key Responsibilities:
The Patient Care Support Specialist will engage in various tasks, including but not limited to:
- Providing direct patient care, including monitoring vital signs, assisting with personal hygiene, and supporting daily activities.
- Facilitating communication within the unit by answering calls, managing patient admissions, discharges, and transfers.
- Maintaining a clean and organized environment by stocking supplies and ensuring patient rooms are ready for use.
- Transporting patients and equipment as needed.
- Performing clerical duties such as transcription and managing the unit desk area.
About the Role:
This is a casual position with flexible scheduling options. Shifts typically last 8 hours, with a primary need for afternoon and evening coverage. Opportunities for weekday shifts are available.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, candidates should meet the following criteria:
- Completion of a recognized Nursing Assistant training program or equivalent experience in a healthcare setting.
- Current enrollment in a nursing program or certification on the relevant nursing registry.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
Successful candidates will demonstrate strong teamwork, communication skills, and a commitment to providing exceptional patient care in a fast-paced environment.
