About the Role

Pace is seeking an experienced and visionary Executive Director to lead our organization in achieving its mission to provide high-quality services to girls in need. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker with a strong track record of leadership, program development, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Advocacy
    • Provide leadership and advocacy for Pace at all levels, including advocating for the needs of girls in the local community.
    • Participate in special assignments and projects, providing input and communication on policies, procedures, and strategic direction setting.
    • Cultivate relationships with major stakeholders, including legislatures, city and county officials, business interests, other child-serving agencies, Juvenile Justice Council, and school boards.
    • Demonstrate measurable results pertaining to the Standards of Excellence.
    • Focus on the needs of the agency and balance competing voices to make optimal decisions for girls and staff.
    • Articulate and model the values of Pace in a way that inspires staff, girls, and board members.
  • Human Resources
    • Motivate and inspire passion for Pace, its mission, and excellence in roles of responsibility.
    • Select and place highly qualified staff in all positions.
    • Provide direction and models for middle managers to ensure the retention goals of Pace are met.
    • Provide opportunities for growth and development of staff.
    • Supervise, counsel, and evaluate staff.
    • Develop and implement a succession plan for all major roles in the Center.
    • Resolve employee relations issues in a manner that is amicable to staff and Pace.
    • Create an adaptable learning environment for Pace, staff, and volunteers.
    • Obtain maximum utilization of staff by clearly defining duties, establishing performance standards, conducting performance reviews, and recommending competitive salary structures.
    • Follow Human Resources Policies and Procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Finance
    • Manage Center finances within approved budget.
    • Demonstrate an understanding of monthly financial reports and identify trends and discrepancies.
    • Communicate and clarify monthly financial reports to assist the Board in their oversight of the center budget.
    • Prepare budgets with solid assumptions for the future and comply with Board policy.
    • Follow finance policies and procedures to ensure timely compliance.
    • Provide contract information to the Finance Department to assist and ensure the accuracy of monthly financial statements.
    • Ensure necessary controls and audits of processes related to financial controllership.
  • Development
    • Develop a group of supporters commensurate in size and capacity to the local community.
    • Demonstrate the ability to maintain and grow community supporters and donors.
    • Solicit and secure diverse, multiple funding sources.
    • Ensure community public relations efforts reflect the values of Pace.
    • Comply with Development Policies and Procedures (including Center Board Guidelines).
  • Program
    • Ensure program operates in compliance with DJJ, School Board, and grant contracts.
    • Establish referral sources and an appropriate waiting list.
    • Achieve outcomes for girls that significantly exceed the standards of the contract.
    • Demonstrate competencies of gender-responsive programming and train at center level.
    • Provide core Pace services in accordance with agency guidelines.
    • Align new initiatives that advance the mission.
    • Achieve consistent successful QA reviews.
    • Comply with Program Policies and Procedures.
  • Governance and Boards
    • Ensure Board reflects primary community interest.
    • Recruit, train, and develop board members on a continuing basis.
    • Provide board orientation to new members.
    • Influence and lead the board to operate within the center board guidelines.
    • Facilitate regular board retreats.
    • Encourage consistent attendance at Board and Committee Meetings.
    • Develop and implement succession plan.
    • Work closely with the Board to develop strategic plans that include both long-term and short-term priorities.
    • Facilitate consistent representation to Board of Trustees.
