The Supply Chain Engineering Specialist I position is a distinctive role that merges technical engineering expertise with a comprehensive understanding of procurement operations within the supply chain framework. This role acts as a representative on the internal change board, supporting the procurement division of Gulfstream's production.
Desired Skills
Solid foundational knowledge of procurement operations, alongside a broad understanding of various procured materials, cost assessment techniques, and best practices in materials management, particularly in the aerospace sector. A technical background in aircraft manufacturing and detailed part fabrication is advantageous. The ideal candidate will function with minimal supervision in a collaborative environment, directly engaging with program management, design engineering, operations engineering, quality assurance, materials management, and the wider procurement team. Strong project management capabilities and effective negotiation skills are essential for success in this position. A solid business acumen with a clear understanding of procurement processes and how they integrate with engineering functions is crucial.Educational and Experience Requirements
A Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience that equips the individual to perform the essential functions of the role. A minimum of 5 years in a specific technical field or 10 years of broad engineering experience across multiple disciplines with a Bachelor's degree. Experience credit for related advanced degrees is limited to 2 years for a Master's and 4 years for a PhD in relevant fields. Position Objective : Operate both independently and collaboratively with limited oversight to prepare, implement, and assess analyses aimed at resolving issues and enhancing manufacturing processes within the supply chain, supporting both production and post-production activities. This encompasses the development and refinement of production methodologies and procedures related to tooling, layout, production planning and flow, assembly techniques, and material processes within the supply chain. Guide and influence suppliers and internal cross-functional teams through technical problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives.Job Responsibilities
Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Essential Functions: Focus on supplier performance and facilitate inter-organizational and supplier interactions; contribute to the planning, development, and coordination of projects aimed at resolving supply chain manufacturing issues. This includes addressing critical challenges and coordinating project efforts. Must be capable of assuming project leadership roles or participating in cross-functional teams, driving initiatives and providing technical mentorship to suppliers and team members. Required to deliver clear and concise verbal and written technical communications; foster relationships with other functional areas to achieve team objectives; regularly prepare executive summaries detailing project status and outcomes. Utilize existing problem-solving expertise to mentor others in developing similar skills, thereby strengthening the organization and supply chain. Implement methods to identify root causes and formulate corrective and preventative action plans. Offer technical guidance to suppliers and drive initiatives that address improvement opportunities, ensuring validation and implementation of actions that demonstrate measurable enhancements. Provide on-site technical assistance to the supply chain, engineering, operations, and logistics teams. Additional Functions: Maintain current and advanced knowledge in manufacturing processes and engineering techniques, particularly those related to aerospace.
