Job Summary

Spire Orthopedic Partners is seeking a skilled Endoscopy Technician to join our team. As a key member of our endoscopy department, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest level of patient care and satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist registered nurses in implementing plans of care for patients undergoing endoscopy procedures.
  • Anticipate physician needs and provide necessary scopes, supplies, and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Organize, order, and maintain supplies according to Spire Orthopedic Partners' standards.
  • Provide patient safety in all aspects of job activities.
  • Collaborate with the gastroenterology team and other healthcare professionals to ensure quality of care.
  • Assist with preparation of the patient and procedure room before and after the procedure under the direct supervision of a registered nurse.
  • Help prepare the patient prior to the procedure, assist with changing into a gown, apply EKG leads, B/P cuff, and O2 saturation monitor.
  • Assist in transporting patients to and from the procedure room.
  • Practice Standard Precautions and follow infection control policies and procedures.
  • May assist during procedures with biopsies, snaring polyps, applying abdominal pressure, and clip application.
  • Assist in the cleaning of the procedure room and preparing for the next patient.
  • Clean, decontaminate, disinfect, and properly care for all endoscopes.
  • Help assemble and check equipment for proper functioning.
  • Order all endoscopy supplies and stock the procedure room.
  • Assist in the postoperative area as needed.
  • Provide nourishment to patients.
  • Clean pre and post-operative bays and stretchers following infection control procedures.
  • Empty laundry as needed.
  • Help transport patients to cars.
  • Stock and maintain linen supplies.
  • Attend and participate in Spire Orthopedic Partners' meetings and in-services.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Cooperate with all members of the team in achieving Spire Orthopedic Partners' goals.
  • Report potential and/or adverse events appropriately.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year experience as an endoscopy technician.
  • Working knowledge of office equipment and software.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA, insurance regulations, policies, procedures, and other regulatory policies.
  • Medical office procedures, policies, practices, and medical terminology, telephone protocol, and professional etiquette.
  • Understanding of electronic medical systems.

  • Must be a team player with a positive attitude, the ability to work effectively with a diverse population, and the ability to demonstrate patience and professionalism.
  • Promotes teamwork through collaboration, represents the practice in a professional manner, and maintains the strictest confidentiality on all patient issues.
