Join the University of Massachusetts as the Director of Advising & Academic Success and take on a leadership role in shaping the academic journey of undergraduate students. This pivotal position is responsible for developing and implementing advising interventions, directing staff in delivering advising services, and coordinating special programs like Destination Days, Fall Visit Days, First Year Seminars, and leadership development programming. As a key member of the team, you will directly support the Academic Dean(s) by reviewing petitions, researching, and organizing documentation to support the academic discipline and appeals process. Additionally, you will assist in preparing cases for the University's Committee on Admissions and Records (CAR) and supervise staff, including the Assistant Director for Persistence and retention, academic advisors within OASCP, and oversee advising within SPHHS. Your expertise in interpreting policies, procedures, and complex rules will serve as a valuable resource to students, parents, faculty, and staff. You will also intervene with students and parents regarding academic discipline and respond to matters in the Academic Dean(s) absence. With a strong background in higher education academic advising, regulations, procedures, and student support policies, you will develop materials and coordinate advisor training activities, take the lead in coordinating and implementing the New Student Orientation and Transitions program (NSOT), and collaborate with the Assistant Dean to provide support for the SPHHS First Year Student Seminar Program. As a seasoned professional, you will participate in shared attendance at occasional evening or weekend activities, represent the School to various on-campus entities, prospective students, parents, and other stakeholders, and develop metrics to evaluate the quality and effectiveness of student academic and career advising programs, retention, staff, and special events. The successful candidate will possess a Master's Degree, five (5) years of experience in higher education academic advising, regulations, procedures, and student support policies, and a strong ability to work with minimal supervision, high level of initiative, creativity, motivation, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
