Northrop Grumman, a leading aerospace and defense company, is seeking an experienced Principal Engineer Systems to join its team in Melbourne, Florida.

About the Job:

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated individual to lead our systems engineering efforts. As a Principal Engineer Systems, you will be responsible for performing technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk analysis, and supportability and effectiveness analysis for total systems.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Performing mission engineering activities to ensure continuity between desired operational capabilities and delivered system performance
  • Ensuring performance capabilities of new systems and architectures are traded against cost and mission requirements
  • Developing mission relevant scenarios and assessing operational effectiveness of existing and emerging systems and capabilities in representative operational environments
  • Developing and integrating advanced graphical user interfaces and visualization tools
  • Modeling operational environments and performing trade studies via computer simulation
  • Incorporating AI/ML techniques in Modeling and Simulation frameworks

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline and 5 years of related professional/military experience or a Master of Science degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related professional/military experience, or a STEM Ph.D. and 1 year of related professional/military experience
  • An active DoD Secret or higher clearance with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the Company
  • Experience with Java and Ansys STK (Systems Tool Kit)

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience leading small teams of engineers to ensure project objectives are satisfied, experience in Python and MATLAB developing tools and algorithms, previous experience in aviation and defense programs, knowledge of Monte Carlo simulations, and familiarity with AGILE, MBSE, and/or system architecture.
