Role Summary
The Registered Nurse will assess and diagnose patients within a clinical setting, identify treatment outcomes, implement care plans, and coordinate patient care. Responsibilities include performing and assisting with oncology and infusion-related treatments, therapies, and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Establishes expected outcomes for each patient's personalized treatment plan.
- Implements the treatment plan and coordinates all facets of care delivery.
- Provides education and guidance to patients and their families regarding health needs, healthcare activities, immunization protocols, and medication effects.
- Addresses the specific clinical requirements of oncology and infusion patients by leveraging professional knowledge and expertise.
- Identifies medication incompatibilities and factors influencing stability.
- Conducts facility acuity coding by selecting the appropriate service level for a diverse patient demographic, ensuring comprehensive clinical documentation in the patient's medical record.
Physical Demands
This role requires mobility, including walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, bending, pushing, and pulling. The ability to lift up to 75 pounds is necessary. Proficiency in English is required for effective communication. Candidates must possess intact sensory functions and demonstrate the ability to concentrate and respond swiftly to changes in patient or clinic conditions.
Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing is mandatory, with a BSN preferred. Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina is required. Previous oncology experience is advantageous. Proficiency in IV therapy, bone marrow procedures, spinals, thoracenteses, paracenteses, and phlebotomy is preferred. Oncology certification is a plus. BLS certification is required in accordance with policy guidelines.
