Role Summary and QualificationsThe Patient Care Technician (PCT) plays a vital role in delivering high-quality, patient-focused care by performing essential patient care services related to nursing functions and daily living activities. Under the guidance of a registered nurse (RN), the PCT assists in providing care that aligns with their training and departmental needs, while also ensuring a clean and safe environment for patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in implementing nursing care plans by providing both direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of licensed nursing staff.
- Collect and document patient information throughout their care journey, including vital signs and other relevant data.
- Support patient mobility through regular repositioning and assistance with ambulation and transfers.
- Facilitate specimen collection for diagnostic tests, ensuring proper labeling and timely processing.
- Assist patients with daily living activities such as eating, bathing, and grooming.
- Serve as a Monitor/Telemetry Technician as required.
- Engage in best practices that enhance patient experience, including safety protocols and effective communication.
Qualifications:
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification from the American Heart Association is required; CPI training is necessary for Behavioral Health.
- Preferred: At least one year of experience as a PCT in a healthcare environment.
- Ability to lift up to 100 lbs, with frequent lifting of objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
