A role with a focus on developing and overseeing nutrition programs to ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards. This position involves managing adherence to federal and state laws, regulatory guidelines, and industry requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create menus in compliance with prescribed diet orders, ensuring nutritional adequacy, age, cultural background, and religious practices.
- Write and modify menus as needed based on client diet prescriptions using established resources and guidelines.
- Obtain menu choices from clients via phone order or client visitation.
- Ensure meal orders are transmitted to the correct location for meal preparation.
- Process patient menu selections using a computerized diet office system.
- Update, monitor, and follow up on all pertinent client information, including diet order changes, food allergies, food preferences, and requests.
- Print and process client food service reports, including meal census and food tally reports.
- Record assigned data, such as client meal census and floor stock requests, on paper logs or spreadsheets.
- Resolve client requests and complaints or relay them to appropriate staff.
- Direct members and staff of the Food and Nutrition Services office.
- Assist with delivery service as needed, including assembling patient trays, loading carts, and delivering meals to patients.
- Serve as a dietary resource for nursing and other staff.
- Resolve problems with patient trays.
- Provide general information on diet using approved materials and resources.
- Meet with clients individually to provide general dietary information using approved materials.
- Run monthly group sessions to educate clients on diet and related topics.
- Bachelor's degree in food, nutrition, food service management, or a related field.
- Registered Dietitian (RD) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
- Accredited Dietetic Internship (DI) by the American Dietetic Association (ADA).
- Food Handler's permit or ServeSafe certification as per state requirements.
- Completion of CDR exam.
$34-$40 per hour, depending on experience
