Lead Diesel Mechanic Job Description

At Saia, we're committed to providing our customers with exceptional service and our employees with opportunities for growth and development. As a Lead Diesel Mechanic, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and safety of our fleet of trailers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and train a team of trailer mechanics to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to perform their jobs effectively.
  • Perform hands-on inspections, service, and repairs on dry van trailers to ensure they're in good working condition.
  • Use diagnostic tools and computer software to troubleshoot and repair heavy-duty braking and electrical systems.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless communication and coordination.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices to ensure our fleet is always running at peak performance.
Requirements:
  • 3+ years of maintenance experience, preferably in a lead or supervisory role.
  • Experience with diagnostic software and computerized tools for troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of electronic braking systems and ability to repair and maintain them.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
