Job Title: Mechanical Estimator

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Estimator to join our team at Edwards, Inc. in Spring Hope, NC.

Job Summary:

The Mechanical Estimator will be responsible for estimating and negotiating industrial projects, including pre-construction, hard bids, and negotiated bids. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction practices and procedures, as well as excellent communication skills and a commitment to safety.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Estimate and negotiate industrial projects, including pre-construction, hard bids, and negotiated bids.
  • Prepare project proposals and cost estimates for a wide range of industrial projects.
  • Ensure that proposals meet company financial goals and that contractual requirements of the project are acceptable.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings with customers and assemble and document information required to evaluate and estimate specific projects.
  • Communicate and coordinate with client representatives, other intercompany departments, and subcontractors.
  • Assist in evaluation of bid opportunities for potential work.
  • Study contract documents and prepare data concerning a project from plans, specifications, and jobsite visits.
  • Bid Document Analysis and preparation of estimates and proposals.
  • Plan construction methods and procedures and develop schedules as required to estimate projects.
  • Identify any unique quality control or safety requirements for incorporation into estimates.
  • Preparing requisitions for purchase of materials in specific projects.
  • Ensure estimates are complete, well organized, and ready for review by management.
  • Negotiating contracts and change orders with owners and subcontractors.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 2-3 years estimating and negotiating industrial projects.
  • Knowledge of construction practices and procedures.
  • HS Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Valid Driver's License and a clean driving record.
  • Excellent communication skills and commitment to safety.
Additional Skills:
  • Ability to read drawings/sketches.
  • Familiarity with estimating and scheduling software.
  • Computer Skills - Microsoft Word and Excel, Bluebeam, and Procore are a plus.
