Responsibilities
  • Construct a range of initial phase pilot and pre-production assemblies utilizing MES.
  • Operate independently once a project and task is allocated.
  • Adapt to various tasks assigned on a daily basis.
  • Ensure cleanliness in the workspace and implement 5S best practices.
  • Comply with Joby's safety protocols and procedures.
  • Follow instructions accurately and demonstrate critical thinking in a pilot and production setting.
  • Conduct line trials for new products and processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members to meet assembly deliverables.
  • Provide insights and communicate any issues encountered during assembly to facilitate process enhancements and solutions.
  • Assist in the construction of workstations, testing stations, and fixtures.
  • Assemble hardware for testing stands and aircraft components while maintaining the necessary documentation, which includes mechanical assembly of parts and subsystems.
  • Execute teardowns and perform test validations for new equipment/testers across multiple lines.
  • Support engineers in investigating quality defects and test failures.
  • Aid in mentoring and providing on-the-job training for production associates.
  • Carry out quality activities that involve self-inspections and in-process inspections.
Required
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high work standards.
  • Driven to support the company's mission.
  • Proficient in operating various equipment per SOP and basic hand tools (both electric and manual).
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Capable of adapting to sudden changes in daily priorities.
  • Team-oriented mindset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and analytical capabilities.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks according to daily objectives.
  • Capable of lifting 25-35 lbs and performing repetitive tasks.
Desired
  • Previous experience in a pre-production pilot phase environment.
  • Familiarity with the bill of materials (BOM) and utilizing MES systems.
  • Experience in industrial environments and procedures.
  • Background in high-voltage systems and/or complex electromechanical systems.
  • Experience in electro-mechanical assembly, including overmolding.
  • Proficient in writing and adhering to work instructions.
  • Skills in machining, welding, and overall mechanical craftsmanship are advantageous.
  • Experience in basic wiring and diagnostics.
  • Knowledge of mechanical component assembly and systems integration of mechanical systems.
  • IPC J-STD, 610 certification.
  • Forklift operation experience.
  • Familiarity with JIRA, Confluence, ION/MES.
  • Experience in lean manufacturing practices.

Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $23 - $31 per hour. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Joby also provides a comprehensive benefits package, including paid time off, healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan with a company match, an employee stock purchase plan (ESPP), short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, and more.
