Dental Director I

The County of Los Angeles is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Dental Director I to lead a dental program with responsibility for providing a wide spectrum of professional dental services and professional training.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, direct, and assign the various phases of a large and varied dental service program in a County hospital.
- Formulate and develop administrative and technical standards for dental services.
- Review the dental program, initiate and evaluate new methods and modify procedures to provide better dental care and to effect greater efficiency in operation.
- Perform as a Trauma Team Member in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery for a Level I Trauma Center.
- Formulate policies and plans for internship and residency programs.
- Prepare budget justifications and write specifications for equipment, supplies, and personnel.
- Interview prospective employees to determine their suitability to fill vacancies.
- Provide dental care or perform the most difficult professional tasks, such as serving on a surgical team which treats fractured jaws or removes tumors and cysts.
- Coordinate dental activities with those of other hospital services.
- Four (4) years of experience in the practice of dentistry, one year of which must have been in a supervisory, administrative, or teaching capacity.
- A California license to practice dentistry issued by the Dental Board of California -AND- A Radiation Safety License issued by the Dental Board of California -or- A certificate of compliance from an approved Board course in radiation safety.
- Graduation from an approved dental program, accredited by the American Dental Association, after the year 1980 complies with the Radiation Safety Requirement.
- Supervisory, administrative, or teaching dentistry experience beyond the Selection Requirements.
Appointees may be required to work any shift, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
