Role Overview
This position is integral to the New Shepard program, which features a reusable suborbital rocket system engineered to transport astronauts and research payloads beyond the Karman line, the recognized threshold of space. The operational reusability of New Shepard is pivotal in our goal to reduce the costs associated with accessing space.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to launch facility instrumentation and control systems.
- Create detailed work instructions for the installation of new hardware and for both preventive and corrective maintenance tasks.
- Collaborate closely with engineering and design teams to ensure the proper construction, operation, and maintenance of equipment.
- Oversee hardware assembly, installation, verification, and maintenance activities.
- Plan and manage preventive maintenance and upgrades for instrumentation and control systems.
- Uphold company-wide electrical design standards.
- Provide engineering support during launch operations for instrumentation and control systems.
- Design, construct, and maintain electrical control and instrumentation systems.
- Review electrical schematics for control system installation and construction.
- Identify and acquire necessary components for maintenance and build activities.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and technicians on installation projects.
- Ensure configuration control of installed instrumentation and control systems.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience in related fields.
- Experience in electrical schematic design and panel layout using CAD tools, preferably AutoCAD Electrical.
- Familiarity with integrating instrumentation with data acquisition systems.
- Proficient in using electrical diagnostic tools, including digital multimeters and oscilloscopes.
- Experience with industrial sensors and actuators, such as pressure and temperature sensors, motor controllers, and valves.
- Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or legally admitted refugee or asylee.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Over two years of experience in industrial or aerospace facility design or operations.
- Experience in fast-paced, critical operational environments.
- Expertise in tuning closed-loop control systems.
- Familiarity with Linux operating systems.
- Professional experience in software development, including PLC Ladder Logic, MATLAB, Python, or C/C++.
- Experience in drafting comprehensive work instructions for maintenance tasks.
- Knowledge of FMECA and other safety analysis methodologies.
