Job SummaryThe Clinical Technician EMT provides direct patient care under the direction of a nurse and performs various tasks necessary for unit operations. This role requires strong communication and teamwork skills, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Provides direct patient care under the direction of a nurse, including performing vital signs, administering medications, and providing wound care.
- Assists with patient transportation and transfers, ensuring safe and efficient movement of patients throughout the hospital.
- Collects and processes laboratory specimens, including blood, urine, and stool samples, and delivers them to the laboratory for analysis.
- Applies orthopedic splints and assists with the application of simple dressings, utilizing aseptic technique.
- Performs venipuncture and phlebotomy, following hospital protocol, and accurately labels and delivers specimens to the laboratory.
- Provides post-mortem care and assists with the application of restraints when necessary.
- Acts as a patient sitter when one-to-one observation is required for patient care.
To be successful in this role, you'll need a minimum of a high school diploma or GED, as well as Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Additionally, you'll need valid licensure as an EMT in the State of Florida with acute care experience.
