Vassar Brothers Medical Center is seeking a skilled MRI Technologist to join our team. As a key member of our radiology department, you will be responsible for producing high-quality diagnostic images using Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) technology.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate patient throughput and prioritize exams based on priority level.
- Verify patient identity, imaging orders, and exam procedures to ensure accurate and safe imaging.
- Explain procedures to patients and perform IV cannulation and iStat testing as needed.
- Position patients for optimal imaging and select appropriate protocols to obtain high-quality images.
- Operate power injectors and administer contrast media under physician supervision.
- Practice MRI safety and screening, infection control, and sterile technique.
- Perform post-processing workstations and critique exams for completeness and accuracy.
- Follow infection control and safety guidelines, clean and disinfect equipment, and stock exam rooms.
- Coordinate patient care and communicate with nursing units as needed.
- Graduate of a School of Radiologic Technology or MRI program.
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
- American College of Radiology (ARRT) MRI Certification or acquire within 1 year of hire.
- Minimum 1-2 years of clinical experience in CT or MRI.
- Ability to work in a high magnetic field up to 3.0 Tesla.
- Valid New York State (NYS) Radiological License with Injection.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
This role requires manual dexterity, occupational risk, and physical effort. The physical environment may involve exposure to dirt, odors, noise, and human waste.
