Position Overview

The Penobscot Bay YMCA is seeking a dedicated Director of Human Resources to lead our human resources initiatives and cultivate a supportive workplace culture. This leadership role is crucial in developing and implementing HR strategies that align with our mission of community service and employee engagement.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Strategic Leadership: Collaborate with executive leadership to establish systems and processes that promote a vibrant organizational culture aligned with our core values.
  2. Organizational Planning: Engage in strategic planning efforts to ensure HR systems and structures effectively support the organization’s objectives.
  3. Performance Management: Oversee the development and execution of performance evaluation and management systems.
  4. Compensation and Benefits: Ensure competitive compensation and benefits programs that comply with regulations and are effectively communicated across the organization.
  5. Talent Acquisition: Develop and implement strategies to attract and retain a diverse workforce, identifying effective recruitment sources.
  6. Employee Development: Create comprehensive development programs that empower employees to enhance their skills and advance their careers.
  7. Compliance Management: Stay informed on employment laws and regulations, ensuring compliance and maintaining relationships with relevant agencies.
  8. Record Keeping: Manage payroll and personnel records systems to meet reporting and legal requirements.
  9. Insurance Oversight: Monitor unemployment insurance and workers' compensation programs, addressing claims and issues as they arise.
  10. Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as needed to support the organization’s mission.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • High ethical standards and integrity.
  • A bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, or a related field.
  • A minimum of four years of comprehensive experience in human resources management.
  • Expertise in talent management, employee relations, and performance improvement.
  • Proficiency in data management and familiarity with payroll systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to customer service.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities.
  • Capability to engage effectively with diverse populations.
  • Proficiency in HR-related software applications.
