Responsibilities- Provide family-centered care in accordance with policies and the Nurse Practice Act.
- Deliver timely, courteous, and effective care to patients.
- Examine, diagnose, and prescribe treatments and medications.
- Perform or order tests and procedures for various diseases and injuries using medical instruments and equipment.
- Refer patients to medical specialists for consultation.
- Communicate with patients' primary physicians as needed.
- Utilize proper body mechanics when moving, positioning, and transferring patients.
- Provide patient and family education by planning, coordinating, and delegating educational needs.
- Use a personal computer or terminal to access the Clinical Information System.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, patients, families, and the healthcare team.
- Exhibit a cooperative and professional demeanor.
- Respond to overhead pages.
- Maintain patient and medical records.
- Complete charge documents and code records for billing purposes.
- Meet all mandatory unit, educational, and hospital requirements.
- Utilize cost-effective practices in performing job duties.
- Adhere to current Infection Control and Safety Standards.
- Demonstrate the ability to provide competent patient care to various patient populations.
- Participate in Performance Improvement activities.
- Attend work regularly and promptly.
- Work schedule as defined and overtime as required.
- Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited institution.
- Completion of an approved nurse practitioner training program.
- Certification as a nurse practitioner.
- Licensure with the state of Alabama as a nurse practitioner and registered nurse.
- Ability to be credentialed for USA Hospital privileges.
- Or completion of an accredited physician assistant training program as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama.
- Licensure with the state of Alabama to practice as a Physician Assistant within two months of employment.
