Job Summary:
As an Interventional Radiology Technologist at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a vital role in performing routine and highly specialized diagnostic and therapeutic interventional radiology procedures on patients. You will work closely with physicians to diagnose and treat pathologies, ensuring the highest level of patient care and safety.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with pre and post-patient assessment, patient teaching, and patient care within the scope of practice.
  • Assist physicians with a range of procedures using fluoroscopic imaging that require the use of contrast media.
  • Ensure proper radiation safety measures are in place, adhering to the ALARA principle and departmental Radiation Safety Policies & Procedures.
  • Prepare work schedules to ensure sufficient staff is available for patient appointments.
  • Ensure staff explains Interventional Radiology procedures to patients and obtains consent forms, actively participating in the Universal Protocol for all procedures.
  • Provide training and guidance to ensure equipment is properly and safely operated.
  • Assist staff to confirm that images meet requirements of radiologists.
  • Check the status of imaging and specialty equipment to ensure proper operating condition.
  • Troubleshoot technical and mechanical problems and perform minor maintenance on equipment.
  • Order equipment, film, and supplies and ensure inventories are properly managed.
  • Ensure patient information files are prepared and filed correctly.
  • Review and submit reports showing the number and type of examinations conducted.
  • Perform QC Lead duties as an Interventional Radiology Technologist as required.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, nurses, and physicians, particularly regarding information on angiography procedures requiring specialized patient preparation.
  • Maintain proper documentation for internal and external Regulatory compliance.
  • Systematically and continuously collect, assess, and document data in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to provide procedural care for the patient.
Requirements:
  • Minimum three (3) years of recent experience as a Radiologic Technologist in a hospital supporting fluoroscopy and c-arm/surgical procedures.
  • Graduate of a certified/accredited ARRT program required.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Cardiac Interventional Radiography within 24 months of hire OR American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Vascular Interventional Radiography within 24 months of hire OR American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Cardiovascular Interventional Radiography within 24 months of hire.
  • Radiologic Technologist Certification from American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Basic Life Support.
