Job Summary

The Welding Instructor is responsible for providing instruction to students enrolled in Welding courses, including dual credit high school students. This individual will maintain office hours, teach extended day and/or night classes, labs, and hybrid/online courses as required, both on campus and at alternate locations. The Welding Instructor will also help coordinate and attend advisory committee meetings, attend workshops, seminars, and conferences to upgrade teaching skills, assist in the development of curriculum as needed, and maintain program computer labs.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Engage students in the learning process through active teaching methods.
  • Maintain ethical and professional behavior in the workplace.
  • Stay up-to-date with policies and procedures contained in the TSUS and LIT Policies and Procedures Manual.
  • Participate in college service, including committee work, advising, and/or tutoring students, and recruiting.
  • Teach classes during the fall and spring semesters as required by the department, including online courses.
  • Provide mentorship to dual credit partners/mentees.
  • Attend Teaching and Learning Center sessions to enhance teaching skills.
  • Stay current with national matters and trends in education.
  • Participate in assessment activities for the LIT Core Curriculum.
  • Assist in the development of curriculum as needed.
Work Environment

The work environment for this position is typical of an interior/exterior/office/classroom setting with moderate noise. Some evenings, weekends, and extended working hours may be required during registration periods.

Minimum Qualifications
  • An Associate Degree in Welding Technology or a related field from a regionally accredited institution is required.
  • Five years of work experience in Welding Technology.
  • Knowledge of teaching methodologies/pedagogical strategies.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Good time management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field.
  • Related field and/or industry certifications.
