Welding Instructor Lead

Job Summary:

The Welding Instructor will provide instruction for students enrolled in Welding courses, including dual credit high school students. This individual will maintain office hours, teach extended day and/or night classes, labs, and hybrid/online courses as required. The instructor will also help coordinate and attend advisory committee meetings, attend workshops, seminars, and conferences to upgrade teaching skills, assist in the development of curriculum, and maintain program computer labs.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Engage students in the learning process
  • Maintain professional behavior and knowledge of policies and procedures
  • Participate in college service, including committee work, advising and/or tutoring students, and recruitment
  • Teach classes during the fall and spring semesters, including online courses
  • Provide mentorship to dual credit partners/mentees
  • Attend teaching and learning center sessions to enhance teaching skills
  • Stay abreast of national matters and trends in education
  • Participate in assessment activities for the LIT Core Curriculum
  • Assist in the development of curriculum as needed
Work Environment:

The work environment is typical of an interior/exterior/office/classroom setting with moderate noise. Some evenings, weekends, and extended working hours may be required during registration periods.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • An Associate Degree in Welding Technology or related field from a regionally accredited institution
  • Five years of work experience in Welding Technology
  • Knowledge of teaching methodologies/pedagogical strategies
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Good time management skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field
  • Related field and/or industry certifications
