Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled High Voltage Electrical Maintenance Specialist to join our team at Yale University. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining electrical distribution systems throughout the University, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of high voltage equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on high voltage equipment, including generators, transformers, and switchgear.
  • Conduct diagnostic tests and troubleshoot electrical systems to identify and resolve issues.
  • Collaborate with Physical Plant High Voltage Electricians to ensure consistent and reliable electrical service to all campus customers.
  • Read, understand, and update electrical drawings and vendor manuals as necessary.
  • Determine manpower and material requirements for work assignments and recommend changes as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, and ensure compliance with safety standards and practices.
  • Train new hires and transferees on proper maintenance and safety procedures.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent and at least four years of high voltage electrical maintenance experience.
  • Demonstrated qualifications and experience in operating/maintenance of high voltage equipment in a power generation or similar environment.
  • CT E2 unlimited journeyman electrical license and valid CT driver's license.
Working Conditions

This is maintenance work requiring physical exertion. Employees may be required to move objects weighing over 50 pounds. Employees in this classification are subject to emergency call back procedures twenty-four hours a day, as may be required in order to maintain continuous operation of a facility.
