Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Invasive Cardiac Tech to join our team at Advocate Health. As an Invasive Cardiac Tech, you will be responsible for operating all monitoring, recording, and related equipment used during procedures. You will collect and prepare pertinent data for use by physicians and staff, and prepare, deliver, and pick up reusable items for re-sterilization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate all monitoring, recording, and related equipment used during procedures.
  • Collect and prepare pertinent data for use by physicians and staff.
  • Prepare, deliver, and pick up reusable items for re-sterilization.
  • Monitor patient electrocardiogram for cardiac dysrhythmias.
  • Operate the defibrillator and perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation when required.
  • Provide assistance in emergency situations.
  • Assist in pre and post procedure activities related to equipment and patient care.
  • Perform initial troubleshooting on equipment.
  • Perform calibration, cleaning, and quality assurance measures on equipment.
  • Identify cardiovascular and peripheral vascular anatomy for documentation purposes.
  • Obtain and document clinical data during procedures in procedure log.
  • Prepare and operate imaging, angiographic, interventional, and storage systems.
  • Position patient and select exposure factors for all radiographic procedures performed in the department.
  • Support physician and staff during procedures.
  • Scrub to assist physician with diagnostic, interventional, and surgical procedures with knowledge of equipment and equipment options.
  • Perform bloom operation (i.e., overdrive pacing).
Requirements
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months unless department leader has determined it is not required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months unless department leader has determined it is not required.
  • Associate's Degree in Cardiovascular Technology or related field.
  • Completion of an approved basic ECG interpretation course within three months of hire.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly change priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills to work effectively with physicians, patients, and other staff members.
  • Basic computer skills.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

The Invasive Cardiac Tech must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders frequently throughout the workday. The Invasive Cardiac Tech must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs. over the head, and carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance. The Invasive Cardiac Tech must be able to push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present. The Invasive Cardiac Tech may be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards as well as blood and body fluids; therefore, personal protective equipment must be worn as necessary.
