We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant I Certified to provide routine clinical and administrative support to providers and other healthcare team members in an outpatient clinic setting.
Key Responsibilities- Perform rooming and intake process, collecting and documenting patient data, including vital signs, height, weight, and medical history.
- Collect patient and family data, including medical and social history, and review current medication lists, allergies, and preferred pharmacies.
- Assist providers with treatments, examinations, and procedures, and collect specimens and perform phlebotomy as needed.
- Administer medications under the direction of a provider and perform tests, such as EKGs and eye exams, under the direction of a provider.
- Review patient records to determine whether patients require routine health screenings and ensure exam and treatment rooms are properly stocked and maintained.
- Provide patients with after-visit instructions and educational materials as directed and assist with patient registration, check-in, and appointment scheduling.
- Answer clinic telephones and assist with in-basket tasks under the direction of a provider or nurse.
- Assist in emergency situations as directed by a provider or nurse.
- Medical Assistant certification by a recognized organization, such as the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or American Medical Technologists (AMT).
- Basic Life Support Certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).
- Prior medical assistant or medical assistant externship experience preferred.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position and demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills.
