Advanced Thermal Protection Systems Program Manager

Job DescriptionWe are looking for a skilled and disciplined program manager to support the design and development of advanced technology thermal protection systems. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for planning, tracking, and executing complex tasking within technical, schedule, and budget constraints. Your expertise in composite material development, manufacturing, and installation will be invaluable in ensuring successful project execution.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Evaluating daily execution activities and providing guidance to the program manager
- Leading Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and setting expectations for project teams
- Routinely evaluating program technical and programmatic metrics to ensure successful execution
- Managing risk and identifying opportunities at the IPT level, including developing mitigation strategies and plans to realize opportunities
- Identifying capability or process gaps and providing recommendations for improvement
- Actively participating in change management, including developing business cases for changes recommended by IPTs and assessing supply chain vulnerability related to contemplated changes
- Coordinating program activities across multiple functional areas
- Fostering intra-project coordination and communication
- Aiding the program manager in mitigating cost, schedule, and technical risks related to materials used on the program
- Planning and executing a hardware-centric project
- Maintaining project objectives and defining tasks and required resources
- Assisting with assembling and managing project teams
- Working with program schedulers to maintain schedules
- Oversight of technical scope under assigned control accounts and oversight of control account budgets and schedules, including variance analysis, schedule analysis, BCR submittals, status of work package tasks, validation of actual costs charged to assigned control accounts, and development and implementation of corrective actions
- Coordinating release of work authorizations to team members and developing, managing, and coordinating various informational products to support program management reviews, senior management meetings, monthly internal and external programmatic reviews, customer IPT meetings, and tracking and providing status of internal and external action items
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent from an accredited university with 15 years relevant experience or a Master's degree with 13 years of prior relevant experience
- Experience supporting multi-year development/production programs valuing over $100M
- Flight programs experience, particularly with missile, space launch, or rocket launch systems
- Working knowledge of missile mechanical components, thermal protection systems, and composites
- Cost estimating and budget management skills
- Organizational/IPT development skills
- Leadership skills, including successfully leading large and diverse teams, including suppliers and subcontractors
- Disciplined metric-driven program management skills
- Proven experience managing to and meeting tight schedules
- Effective communication skills, including briefing senior government customers and C-level leadership
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, and PowerPoint
- Strong understanding of hardware development, manufacturing, procurement, production, and integration
- Project management qualification (PMP) or equivalent

Estimated Salary: $134,550 - $243,225 per year. Note that pay ranges may vary based on factors such as location and individual qualifications. In addition to salary, Leidos offers a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for professional growth and development.
