The position of Advanced Mechanical Systems Engineer at Qualis Corporation offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity to provide technical expertise in mechanical engineering for the ES62 Space Station Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Removal, Advanced Exploration Systems (AES) Life Support Systems (LSS), and ES62 International Space Station (ISS) Environmental Control Life Support System (ECLSS) Sustaining Engineering.

The successful candidate will work on system engineering; mechanical design and modeling of specialized test articles, test stands, and test support equipment; mechanical structure analysis; testing of development systems; systems verification; material procurement tracking; build-up of simulators; procedure writing; participation in meetings and design reviews. This role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with colleagues, management, and clients.

Work Environment:

The engineer will work in an office and laboratory environment, requiring ability to travel domestically in the USA for less than 5% of the time. The normal workday is from 7:30 a.m. through 4:30 p.m., Monday thru Friday, with occasional overtime required to meet schedule milestones and technical demands.

Physical Requirements:

The position requires sitting for extended periods, using stairs or elevators, and operating general office equipment. Regular attendance is essential, with adequate arrangements made for delegating duties during absences.

Education and Experience:

A degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or related field is required, typically with a Ph.D. and 4 years of experience, or a Master's degree with 8 years of experience, or a Bachelor's degree with 10 years of experience. Relevant skills include thermal-fluid components, systems, and instrumentation, as well as experience with test stand build-ups, procedure development, and data interpretation.

Desired Skills:

  • Hands-on experience with gaseous and liquid fluid flow systems
  • Working knowledge of LABVIEW
  • Aerospace flight system component testing
