Heavy Equipment Technician

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team at Patten Cat. As a key member of our service department, you will be responsible for performing service repairs on heavy equipment, including components and general maintenance. Your primary goal will be to provide superior service and represent our company's professional image.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform service repairs, including components and general maintenance, to ensure heavy equipment is in good working condition.
- Use SIS, ET, parts, and service manuals to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
- Properly segment jobs and order parts accordingly to ensure efficient repair processes.
- Return unneeded parts immediately upon job completion and complete all necessary warranty documentation.
- Effectively communicate job status to customers and office personnel.
- Work in an efficient and timely manner to meet customer expectations.
- Maintain Altorfer supplied tooling and equipment, including personal tooling.
- Perform mechanical work relating to the business of the department.
- Keep current with industry standards.
- Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction, with excellent work ethic, neat appearance, and good communication skills.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Five years of heavy equipment experience.
- Proficient with Excel and email.
- Ability to perform high-quality repairs in an efficient fashion and maintain a clean working environment.
- Ability to work independently and use resources for information when written documentation is not available.
- Good decision-making practices and ability to follow directions.
- Effective communication ability, representing our company's professional image to customers and office personnel.
- Good organizational skills and ability to write technical reports.
- Intermediate keyboarding skills with a basic knowledge of Office software, preferably MS Word.
Physical Requirements
This position works in an office environment, with occasional visits to the service and warehouse area. You will be required to wear close-toed shoes and safety glasses in designated areas. May sit at a desk for long periods, answer the phone, and write or use a keyboard to communicate. Some walking and lifting up to 20 lbs. may be required, and you will need to wear appropriate safety equipment when needed.
