The Role

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) / Secretary is a critical member of our care team, providing direct care to patients with End Stage Renal Disease. The PCT supports clinical staff throughout the dialysis treatment process, delivering prescribed treatment according to physician orders and nursing assessment. Additionally, the PCT provides administrative support to the clinic staff, greeting and assisting patients with their appointments, and ensuring patient charts are accurate and up-to-date.

Responsibilities
  • Obtain and record patient vital signs and machine readings according to facility policies.
  • Set up and tear down the dialysis blood system for the treatment process.
  • Insert and remove access needles in patients for dialysis treatment.
  • Monitor and assess patients during treatment, documenting changes in patient condition and informing charge nurse of problems.
  • Calculate patient weight loss to reach dry weight.
  • Maintain and track inventory.
  • Perform laboratory work.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Previous healthcare experience preferred.
  • CNA, EMT, Medical Asst., CNT, with Phlebotomy skills are desired.
  • Dialysis experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Spreadsheet and Word Processing software.
