Investment Counselor Principal Responsibilities:

  • The Investment Counselor Principal is a strategic expert who stays abreast of the latest trends in their field and applies them effectively within their role and the broader business context. This individual is recognized as a subject matter authority and must possess strong commercial acumen.
  • They are expected to have exceptional communication skills to negotiate effectively at senior levels, with some external communication also required.
  • Advanced judgment is essential, along with the ability to conduct comprehensive quantitative or qualitative analyses to resolve issues and devise innovative solutions.
  • This role significantly influences the function and/or business by making decisions that shape technical strategies and approaches.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Establishing, nurturing, and managing investment relationships with ultra-high-net-worth clients, showcasing a proven track record in implementing and overseeing investment solutions.
  • Utilizing existing client relationships and local networks to introduce new ultra-high-net-worth clients to Citi Private Bank.
  • Building and managing a successful practice focused on enhancing relationships by delivering tailored investment advice and solutions.
  • Combining extensive knowledge of traditional and alternative investments with wealth planning and private banking services to optimize client service and cross-marketing opportunities.
  • Engaging with clients on brokerage activities and executing trades seamlessly.
  • Assessing risks associated with business decisions, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and upholding the firm's reputation.

Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of relevant experience.
  • Extensive background in providing investment advice and solutions.
  • Possession of a CFA, MBA, or other advanced degrees is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct in-depth analyses and develop innovative solutions.
  • US-specific requirements include S7, S66 (or 63 & 65) & S31; note that the Securities Industry Exam (SIE) is a prerequisite for the S7.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
