Child and Family Therapist

This position involves providing direct in-home intervention for severely emotionally/behaviorally disturbed children and their families within the East Alabama Mental Health catchment area.

The In-Home Team will have a maximum caseload of 4-6 families for twelve to sixteen weeks for each family and will provide multiple direct services to each family each week.

The primary mission of the intervention is to reduce a crisis situation, institute a therapeutic process and prevent out of home placement of a youth.


PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Responsible for assessing and implementing treatment programs for children/adolescents with a serious emotional disturbance and their families.
  • Responsible for providing direct In-Home therapy to 4-6 families for up to 16 weeks. This includes individual and family therapy, and parenting skills.
  • Responsible for providing accurate documentation in clinical charts per state and agency standards and protocols.
  • Responsible for the completion of required documentation to assess the family and child's needs and to meet service delivery accountability requirements.
  • Facilitate in-home therapy sessions, and implement the treatment program without direct supervision.
  • Provide case updates and clinical assessments, treatment goals and progress to the IHI Supervisor during weekly staff meetings.
  • Provide transportation to children and families when appropriate.
  • Perform other administrative duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's Degree in psychology, social work, or counseling with an emphasis on clinical services for children and adolescents.
  • One year experience working with the children/adolescents with serious emotional disturbance and their families in a community setting with an emphasis on clinical services is preferred.
  • Valid Alabama driver's license and a suitable automobile to permit the required travel.
  • Must show car insurance equal to or in excess of the State of Alabama standards for automobile insurance coverage.
