Description:
EwingCole is seeking a highly experienced Senior Architectural Designer to join our team in a leadership role. As a key member of the Architecture Discipline, the Senior Architectural Designer will work independently to supervise a staff and provide project-specific solutions that advance the design for site development, building organization, massing, plan configuration, material selection, architectural image, and aesthetic for projects.
This position will coordinate with the architectural, interiors, and engineering teams to develop design solutions that meet the client's objectives and the firm's goals for design excellence, financial viability, and quality service. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in architectural design, leadership skills, and experience working with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise large teams of professional and technical support personnel in project situations, ensuring design costs are managed within the total project budget.
- Participate in design reviews of other designers' projects, providing constructive feedback and guidance.
- Assist Practice Leaders and the marketing department in preparing design documents and presentations, including photography and portfolio maintenance.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager and Principal in Charge to establish the effort and time necessary to design the project.
- Work with Practice leaders to develop design solutions and strategies for client presentations and responses to proposals.
- Develop building designs that meet the client's needs and respond to their desired image, space, and aesthetic.
- Lead discussions to ensure the client's understanding of relevant architectural issues.
- Work with the Project Architect to develop the building design, testing it in relation to codes and other issues that emerge in the Design Development phase.
- Assist the Project Architect in articulating design principles that govern the detailing phase of the project, authoring and/or closely supervising critical design details.
- Collaborate with the engineering disciplines (civil and landscape) and Interiors to ensure a consistent development of the project towards the design concepts established in earlier phases.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Architecture degree.
- 10+ years of experience in architectural design, with a proven track record of leading project design teams and executing design-driven projects within owner's budget constraints.
- Demonstrated superior graphic design and building design and conceptualization skills.
- Experience with AutoCAD/ADT software.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Hand drawing and sketching skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Registered Architect in at least one state, with suitable credentials for registration in other states.
