Job Summary

We are seeking an English Language Arts Teacher to execute engaging, rigorous, and relevant daily lessons aligned to state standards and school-adopted curriculum. The ideal candidate will demonstrate regular and consistent attendance, serve as a substitute teacher across different spaces, and collaborate with staff and leadership to continuously improve practices and address student needs effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute daily lessons aligned to state standards and school-adopted curriculum
  • Collaborate with special education staff, fellow teachers, and school leadership to ensure continuous improvement
  • Communicate regularly with families, striving for a ratio of three positive communications for each corrective one
  • Scaffold and differentiate lessons to support students towards independent mastery of content
  • Maximize student participation and depth of thinking while maintaining a high bar for rigor
  • Lead advisory, tutorial, and elective activities as assigned
  • Meet instructional deadlines, including daily preparation, updating the grade book, and submitting end-of-semester grades
  • Uphold the PBIS System, participating in student celebrations/awards, entering daily DeansList data, and communicating with families
  • Actively supervise students during transitions
  • Attend and participate in school-wide events, including Back to School Night, Parent/Teacher conferences, End of the Year events, Grade Level Meetings, Department Meetings, Summer Professional Development, weekly Professional Development during the school year, and other assigned meetings
  • Demonstrate proficient use of technology to communicate with staff, families, and community members using multiple school-based platforms

Required Qualifications

  • Earned Bachelor's Degree
  • California Single or Multiple Subjects Credential in the designated subject area; currently working towards one; or committed to working towards a credential
  • Possession of either an English Learner (EL) Authorization, Bilingual, Cross-Cultural, Language and Academic Development (BCLAD) certificate, Cross-Cultural Language and Academic Development (CLAD), or Bilingual Certificate of Competence (BCC) required, or working towards this
  • Pass a Criminal Background Check through the Department of Justice
  • Obtain a negative TB reading prior to starting employment

Desired Qualifications

  • At least three years of teaching experience
  • Bilingual in Spanish

Salary and Benefits
