Job Summary

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania is seeking a dedicated and passionate Youth Development Professional to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for implementing educational programming, ensuring the safety of program participants, and promoting a fun and inclusive environment for all ages.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement engaging educational programs, including STEAM, mentoring, athletics, literacy, and activities.
  • Supervise and ensure the safety of all program participants while in care.
  • Encourage participation in clubhouse community events and promote membership in the Clubhouse.
  • Participate in monthly incentive programs focusing on literacy, STEM, art, mentoring, athletics, and social-emotional learning activities.
  • Collaborate with volunteers, tutors, and students to participate in an ongoing education improvement program.
  • Provide input on department programs, in partnership with the approval of the Program Manager.
  • Report any maintenance and operation concerns of the department's physical property, ensuring Club member safety at all times.
Requirements
  • A high school diploma or general educational development certificate and 2500 hours of experience working with children.
  • An interest in a variety of youth programs, including technology, art, sports, STEM, mentoring, and recreation.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite.
  • The ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, push, pull, climb, balance, stoop, stand, sit, kneel, crawl, and perform fine fingered dexterity.
  • The ability to tolerate environmental conditions, including air conditioning, heat, dust, fumes, noise, and close quarters.
Onboarding Process
  • Complete a health physical and TB test.
  • Provide three letters of reference.
  • Clearances Act 33, Act 34, Act 151, and NSOR letter.
  • Mandated Reporter Certification within 45 days of hire.
  • 10 hours of DHS training (can be done virtually).
  • Attend CPR and Pediatric First Aid training within the first 90 days of hire.
