About the Role

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Housekeeping Specialist to join our team in the Department of Athletics. As a key member of our facilities management team, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe environment in our facilities and venues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide housekeeping services to ensure a clean and safe environment in offices, locker rooms, meeting rooms, public areas, bathrooms, housekeeping areas, and other assigned spaces.
  • Meet high standards of housekeeping, including floor maintenance, cleaning, dusting, trash removal, and snow and ice removal from entrance ways and sidewalks.
  • Report needed equipment and building repairs, as well as any unsafe or unusual housekeeping situations.
  • Care for and handle housekeeping supplies, equipment, and assigned keys.
  • Occasionally assist with event preparation and setup.

Requirements

  • Ability to comprehend and follow instructions, and properly use or learn to use cleaning chemicals and agents.
  • Must be able to walk and stand extensively, climb stairs and step ladders, safely move or handle up to 35 lbs, and perform repetitive motion.
  • Must be able to safely and efficiently operate electrically powered and manual cleaning equipment.
  • Commitment to diversity and excellent customer service and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge and experience with various cleaning methods.
  • Housekeeping/cleaning experience in an institutional or commercial cleaning environment.
  • Pressure washing experience and ability to perform general maintenance on a golf cart.
