We are seeking a highly skilled Traffic Engineer V to join our team at the National Guard Employment Network. As a key member of our transportation team, you will play a critical role in advancing our infrastructure projects and ensuring the safe and efficient movement of people and goods.
Key Responsibilities- Project Management: Supervise and participate in roadway field surveys to collect data on traffic patterns, volume, speed, capacity, traffic crashes, and parking.
- Design and Review: Prepare, review, and approve engineering design plans for bicycle, pedestrian, and transit infrastructure prepared by staff and/or consultant engineering firms.
- Traffic Signal Timing: Review and design traffic signal timing sequences using computer software.
- Contract Management: Oversee the monitoring of engineering contractors, ensuring work is completed according to contract specifications.
- Investigations and Problem-Solving: Assign, monitor, and participate in investigations of traffic operations and implement procedures to eliminate problems found.
- Liaison and Coordination: Act as a liaison between the department and other government agencies to coordinate traffic engineering projects.
- Community Engagement: Prepare for and attend community meetings to ensure public input and feedback.
- Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- Experience: Four (4) years of traffic engineering experience, including one (1) year in a supervisory role.
- Certifications: Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Illinois.
- License: A valid State of Illinois Driver's license.
