Job Summary

The Veterinary Assistant provides daily care, feeding, and exercise of boarding and hospitalized animals. This role requires attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a passion for animal welfare.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for animals, including cleaning cages, runs, and yards.
  • Provide compassionate care to boarding pets and hospitalized patients, including administering medications and monitoring their health.
  • Interact with clients in person and via phone, providing excellent customer service and ensuring accurate record-keeping.
  • Monitor animals' general health signs, such as stress, changes in eating or elimination habits, and promptly notify veterinarians and technicians when necessary.
  • Perform tasks such as feeding, watering, and exercising animals, as well as administering flea and tick control.
  • Record accurate information on boarding forms, cage cards, and medication boards.
  • Supervise animals in the yard and perform tasks such as moving pets to different areas for cleaning and disinfecting.
  • Participate in the growth and development of the team, learning from a supportive and enthusiastic group of professionals.
Requirements
  • Confidence around animals and pets.
  • Knowledge of proper animal restraint techniques.
  • Knowledge of infectious diseases and how to control and prevent their spread.
  • Ability to perform duties proficiently, including reasoning, remembering, mathematics, and language skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be 16 years of age or older.
