Position Summary:
The Recreation Coordinator operates under the guidance of the Recreation Manager and collaborates with Recreation Supervisors to develop, manage, and assess a diverse array of recreational and social initiatives. This role is pivotal in crafting and executing programs that cater to the community's interests and needs, ensuring engagement across various age groups, including children, teens, adults, and seniors.
The incumbent will oversee activities across multiple recreational venues such as community centers, parks, and schools. They may possess specialized knowledge in areas like sports, arts and crafts, or senior programming, or may serve as generalists in program management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement recreational programs and community services, contributing to the formulation of operational policies.
- Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, making necessary adjustments to enhance participant satisfaction.
- Assist in the recruitment and training of part-time staff and volunteers, providing performance feedback as needed.
- Engage with community organizations and schools to promote and advance recreational offerings.
- Manage logistics for program activities, ensuring adherence to safety and risk management protocols.
- Oversee budgetary considerations, including tracking expenditures and maintaining inventory for program supplies.
- Prepare and maintain various administrative documents, including schedules and reports, to support program operations.
- Address inquiries related to recreational services and resolve participant concerns effectively.
- Coordinate the use of recreational facilities, ensuring they are safe and well-maintained for community activities.
- Promote recreational programs through effective marketing strategies, utilizing both digital and print media.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience: A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution along with a minimum of two years of relevant experience in public recreation services.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Understanding of principles and practices in recreation program planning and supervision.
- Ability to effectively communicate and interact with the public.
- Proficiency in office software and recordkeeping systems.
Licenses/Certifications:
- Valid California Driver's License.
- Current CPR and First Aid certifications are preferred.
This position requires flexibility in scheduling, including availability for evenings and weekends as necessary to support various programs and events.
