Position Overview:
The Optometrist role within the Ophthalmology department at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso involves providing comprehensive technical assistance to the ophthalmology team and residents. The incumbent will conduct thorough eye examinations to assess vision issues or ocular diseases and will recommend appropriate corrective measures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver optometric services in both outpatient and inpatient environments within an academic medical institution.
- Engage in the educational program aimed at training residents and medical students, including delivering lectures.
- Contribute to the clinical administrative functions by proposing enhancements to operational efficiency within the Department of Surgery.
- Participate in various committees and undertake additional administrative responsibilities as required.
- Ensure adherence to compliance regulations, including HIPAA and billing practices, in alignment with institutional and departmental guidelines.
Work Environment:
This is a full-time position located in El Paso, with a travel requirement of up to 25%.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited School of Optometry (O.D.)
- Current licensure as an Optometrist in Texas or eligibility for license transfer.
- No prior experience is necessary.
Preferred Skills:
- Proven effectiveness in managing a clinical practice.
- Additional coursework in business administration is advantageous.
- Experience in clinical research and education is preferred.
- Possession of a DEA license and a Glaucoma Certificate is required.
Compensation:
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, in accordance with institutional pay guidelines.
