Job Summary

As a Service Technician at Sunroad Automotive, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest level of customer satisfaction by providing exceptional vehicle repair and maintenance services. You will work closely with the Service Director to inspect, maintain, and repair vehicles, using diagnostic tools to identify problems and make adjustments or repairs as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify mechanical problems using visual inspection and computer diagnostic equipment
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance, including oil changes and tune-ups
  • Diagnose the cause of malfunctions and perform work specified on the repair order with efficiency and in accordance with dealership and/or factory standards
  • Repair or replace all parts of a vehicle, including wheels, axles, frames, and brake shoes
  • Install and repair air conditioners and service components such as compressors, condensers, and controls
  • Test electronic computer components in automobiles to ensure they are working properly
  • Communicate directly with the Service Advisor to inform customers of any additional service needed
  • Provide estimates of time needed for additional repairs
  • Inspect and test new vehicles for damage and record findings
  • Supervise and train apprentice or entry-level Technicians
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience as an entry-level automotive technician
  • Valid Driver's license and safe driving record; required to have California within 30 days
  • Ability to regularly lift 30 pounds; occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to perform all essential functions of the job description
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least one National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification in the eight automotive specialty areas
  • Extensive knowledge of all aspects of vehicle repair and mechanical skills
  • Excellent technical and customer service skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Physical Demands

The physical demands of this job include regularly standing, walking, sitting, using hands, reaching with hands and arms, talking, and hearing. Occasionally, you may climb or balance, bend, stretch, stoop, kneel, crouch, squat, or crawl to perform repairs and inspections. You must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and inspect vehicles to determine repairs needed. Good vision is required to inspect repair work, and you must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
